Hi Guys, I just bought a pair of 14 inch trim rings on e-bay to replace the missing one I have on my 72 goat. I know they are stainless steel, but they have some dents and scratches on them and the other ones on my car are new NOS trim rings. Does anyone know how I can repair and repolish these tirm rings to match my new NOS ones? Or can anyone suggest a place near Dallas that can do the repairs? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Dentum1, it is possible to repair (work dents), polish (sand), and buff stainless steel trim in your home workshop. However, unless you have all or most of the equipment and supplies on hand, it may be cheaper (and certainly easier) to purchase another pair of rings.
If you are determined to do-it-yourself (the process is dirty, noisy and can be dangerous), I can make some recommendations concerning supplies and techniques. Once you have the proper equipment and supplies on hand and are practiced in the technique, you will definitely save money on trim restoration in the future. |
