One step forward... two steps back..
Sent 3 of 4 15" 8lugs back to mfr. Excessive runout Rechromed front bumper back to keystone. 3/4" twist fron one side to the other. Cant make it work. New drveshaft returned. Too long and wrong diameter. Wanted 3 1/2" for this torq monster. Repop interior door panels too long and wrong interior weather strip instaled on them. Either cant roll up windows or bottom of window frame catches on panel. Doors difficult to shut with sill plates installed. I think i can rework these with my cat whiskers ws kit. Waiting on a spare trans xmber to arrive. Gonna use a modified version to accomodate 2 1/2" exhaust with xpipe. Still need to install pusher fuel pump. Other than above... having a great summer |

I sent my car to a body shop to get the paint and body done. My best guess is that it will be done by spring, but I have said that before............a few times. I have done some work with it though on the small part side.
P.S. offer is still valid for the first person done will get a clock sent to them.

To me the biggest PITA with getting a new project is body and paint. My 69 judge took a year.Got lucky with the 63 tempest convert.3 weeks for body work and 2 weeks for paint.Swore I would never buy a car that needed paint again.Tom

Excellent. What are you using for tail light bezel-to-body gaskets?

Done...don't think I've ever known that with an old car. Does barely driveable with only half of the interior installed qualify as done? Looking like fully road-ready by Spring for me as well.

gaskets
Using ones from Ames. They're ok. Always have trouble with the left bezels sliding off the edge and onto the 1/4 once tightened. All the trim was fit to the car before paint.

color
Cant go wrong with Belmar red. Going for the late 60s early 70s junior stock look. Thought that was your 61 on the cover of hemmings until I saw cactus in background.

Yeah, I've had several phone calls asking if that was my 61 on Hemmings, about identical car to mine. Take care, your car is looking good

Most recent photos. Car is now home as we had to close our shop. New building owner promptly kicked us out upon taking ownership. Hopefully i can devote more time into finishing our 62 now. Hows everyone doing on theirs?

I stripped out the interior on my 92 Trans Am GTA to get the car repainted. That was in fall of 2014. The body shop finished their hack job in fall of 2015 and I exported the car with all of it's parts to my families house out of country 2 month later. Never did get the mojo to put her pack together after the terrible disheartening problems with getting fu*ked by the body shop that painted her :/ At least she still runs and drives great, does look better, but no interior. I'm putting her away for hurricane season this weekend.
Then I'll be back in the US soon to pick up the 69 Firebird I just spent all my savings on haha! She is primered black and I intend on leaving her that way!!

Interior is pretty close. Finally got a soft ray rear window but it needs polished before it goes in. Interior is painted, headliner in carpet in, dash in , rear seat done and ready to be in. Waiting on PUI for seat bottoms for the GP going on 6 months.

Axles
Just got my axles to go along with my spool. Also ordered Strange rear disc brake kit. Hoosier quick times just came in. Mounting them on my black powder coated weld wheels. I will have this car done this coming spring.

Although I haven't been too active in this thread, my projects have been on the back-burner... main reason is that I am working a lot on growing awareness of the RediRad in new market segments.
That said, I have managed to keep my '64 Tempest on the road ... next week my wife and I are driving to Ennis, TX, to visit Pontiac Larry and his family. |

collecting parts for my 66' 2+2, act #8.
I think this time I will be making some head way. I've had more motivation/energy lately! I let it sit far too long, rust has taken it's toll. I posted want ad for a trunk pan, and have made contact with a good guy that has parts I need and I have parts he needs, not much $$ changing hands. Win for both of us! Too ugly to post a pic but it's seen the worst of times for sure.......my Christine is hopefully gonna ride again! |

You would'nt believe what can get accomplished by just putting in one hour a day on your project.

Nice, glad to see everyone is working on their cars!! I did get my 65 back from the body shop, only took a year and a half when it was promised to me w/in 3 months. Oh well, at least it is back and I am working on it!! Need to adjust the rear bumper a little, but it is on and will go back to adjust things a little further. Paint turned out decent. Need to do a little more wet sanding on it due to some nibs, but I wanted the car back and agreed that I would do some buffing on it just to get it back.
