Default 68 Tail Lamp Housing Repair

Having never worked with fiberglass before, any ideas on how to repair this?

HI,you can buy a small can of fiberglass filler and hardener.Just rough up your light with some 40 grit sandpaper follow the directions on can of filler and apply like reg body filler.Don't forget to mix the filler and hardener.Good luck.

It looks like you have the broken pieces set in place with some tape. I would try to make sure the inside (because it will be harder to access to finish) is pretty smooth, then get some fiberglass stuff from HD. You need to get the fabric also. Pick up a few disposable quart paint cups and a few 2" chip/throwaway brushes. Cut some of the fabric to fit the hole, mix a bit of the liquid and hardener in the cup, brush some on, then lay down the fabric and brush more liquid on top of that. It will dry pretty quick in the right conditions. If need be apply a couple more coats. You can sand in between if need be. After you get some thickness built up and sanded, if its still rough then you can skim it with some body filler. Then it should be ready for some paint. 'glass is pretty easy to work with and what looks bad can be sanded away pretty easy. Good Luck.

Thank you both. We'll see how this works out.

Heres a piece of t top moulding that I fixed with 'glass. You can see that it makes for a pretty decent repair.

Used to use tiger hair and spread it onto saran wrap, and simply apply over hole.Once it sets up, peel off the saran wrap and you have a patch!
That was a "get it through inspection" technique for winter beaters in Pa.
