Default 62 GP Transmission crossmember

Need a crossmember that will fit a turbo 400 trans in a 62GP. Any suggestions or something for sale? Any help appreciated.

For my '63 GP - I just used the original crossmember in the original location and built a little porch off the front.

It appears it isn't even welded, it's just a rectangular piece bolted to the original crossmember?

Yes - correct. A little pieced of flat stock with some holes drilled in it.

Simple enough, then. Did you have any issues with getting the TH400 to fit in the transmission tunnel? I've heard stories all over, from it fitting without any issues, to having to just clearance a few spots with a large hammer, to having to cut and modify the whole thing.

I know the Catalina / Ventura / GP tunnels were a little smaller than the ones on Bonnevilles and Star Chiefs.

My 64 Catalina had the floor cut to make room.

Yes. It is definitely wedged in there.
