Default 1981 NASCAR Turbo Trans Am - Special Edition

1981 NASCAR Edition Pontiac Trans Am. Pontiac Historical Society (PHS) documented. Excellent, unrestored condition with 35,510 miles. The car was sold new at David McDavid Pontiac in Dallas, Texas. Low mileage car whose ownership has always been in Texas. The car comes with the original owner’s manual, GM safety information, Delco, Goodyear and Pontiac manuals. The car still smells new inside.

Very highly optioned car with special factory Recaro bucket seats, T-tops, air conditioning, 4 wheel disc brakes and WS6 performance handling package. This car has always been garaged and only carefully driven in good weather. Exterior paint looks great, the rear spoiler has some slight discoloration from age. I have the NASCAR decals that go on the quarter panel and will include them with the sale. The wheels are the factory 15 x 8 turbo wheels with P25560R15 Goodyear tires. The car has power windows, power locks, cruise control, AM/FM cassette, power antenna (disconnected) and the clock in the dash still works.

There is a paint chip on the passenger door that has been touched up by a prior owner but the car is outstanding considering it is 30 years old. The glass is great condition. Interior is in as new condition with no flaws to speak except for some wrinkles in the headliner. All of the gauges and lights work perfectly. Dashboard condition is amazingly clean. Undercarriage is clean and original. Even the exhaust is original including the mufflers, exhaust tips and catalytic converter. I have been all over the car and there are no rust issues that I have found.

The turbo 301 engine runs strong and the car drives excellent. The lights on the hood scoop work correctly as the turbo spools up to the maximum boost. I recently had the 4 bbl Quadrajet rebuilt by SMI Induction so the choke and idle work nicely. It feels tight and is a pleasure to drive such a low mileage car. Even the original floor mats and T-top bags are included.

This is one of the nicest 1981 NASCAR Edition Trans Ams in existence. One of only 2,000 produced. Asking $18,750. If you are interested, please send me a PM or contact me at bruce@mpjonline.com.
