There is one in the junkyard with a complete motor. Either a 400 or 455 depending on what year. How do you tell by looking at the car? Is it in the VIN anywhere? Any ideas??

Joe
Can you get the hood open to see the motor?
If so, look for the mountain on the top of the block, behind the intake near the distributor. If its there, its a 455.
Good luck!
Jeff

the grille in a 76 wraps up over the top of the header panel, the 77's are completely in the front.

the yr is located in the vin but i don't remember which digit it is in the pre 80 cars.

easy wat to tell is the headlights, 77 had turn signal seperating them and 76 they were together with signal on the outside.

I like the 400. I drove GTO's with both and the 400 was always faster than the 455, at least for 1969 and 1970.
