Default 69 Firebird front disc brake spindles/backing plates wanted.

Testing the waters to see if anyone has a really nice clean set of factory original front disc brake spindles, backing plates, caliper mounts, etc.. for a 69 Firebird. Our car is a drum brake car and I would like to add disc. Based on age of parts and weight it may be best to buy rotors and calipers local (replacements) for shipping would be expensive on those items (your thoughts). If you can help out with some nice rust /damage free parts please PM me to discuss. Thank You. Tim john---

I know a lot of guys running with disk brake conversion kits from reputable companies like inline tube and the right stuff. . .they don't seem to have any issues that I'm aware of.

IMHO as long as you get the right looking master cylinder on the car you'll really never know. Buying used is OK but most of the stuff besides the backing plates, caliper brackets, and spindles are all wear items you need to buy new anyway. . . for what you'll have in buying those rusted originals, re-plating the backing plates then buying calipers, pads, hoses, bearing, hardware (wear parts) its much cheaper to get the kit.

I've considered the same thing you are with our 69 firebird needless to say are going the kit route.

If you want an orginal set I came across a guy in Western PA that has a set . . Call Mike @ 304-389-4930

I don't like "Chinesium" either but outside of the spindles he will be bolting other "chinesium" parts all around that when he goes to put it back together.

All great points guys. A little disclosure is in order. I really only wanted OEM spindles and backing plates, not doing a correct restoration, car is far from correct so I am going to install Baer brakes for increased braking performance, DSE upper and lower control arms, DSE suspension (springs front and rear), Koni shocks all around, etc... Make the car handle and brake better. The Baer brakes will.mount on OEM disc spindles. Tim john---

I would examine these then:

They are an excellent piece if you are running 18"+ rims and Corvette C5 brakes. Using the OEM disc spindles will hold back the other pieces you are mentioning using.

I am located in Michigan a couple hours north of Detroit. It looks like I have additional homework to do in regards to enhanced brakes. A person can sure wrap up a lot of money in them ! Tim john---
