Just scored an aluminum GM performance block for our Turbo Fiero build. It with have custom Hilborn port fuel injection. The blocks weight is about 65 lbs lighter then a stock 2.8 and will be about 3.5 liter in size. Hard block to find, not that many made by GM. 4 bolt steel sprayed caps grooved oiling. These blocks I think were used in Indy racing back in the day.

I used to need one for my 4.3 build but it’s gone. We have my bow tie heads on a syclone project now

There was a lot of push for performance V6s in the early to mid 80s. I think their was a few aluminum Buick 3.8 and Chevy 4.3 V6s made as well.

Yep. Buick had an(Kenne Bell comes to mind) outside vendor cast several improved 3.8 turbo blocks for their Indy program. This was about the same time Pontiac had their four cylinder SD program.

Yes ,they was a big push, but I think the 2.8 platform was the least popular ,The guy we got this block from had some rare 4.3 and Ford six parts and blocks. Some nice intakes also.. The motor should be nice when done. We have been getting rare parts for the build now for about two years

3.5 LITER 6 CYLINDER ENGINE WITH A TURBO WILL BE A BAD CHARACTER IN A FIERO.

About 213 cid, so with a Turbo like Charlie66 has from Precision Turbo for his 200 cid 4 cylinder engine, IF you have some good flowing heads for that engine you should make 700/800 hp at 35-38 psi and in a Fiero that would be an animal to drive.

We bought a 5 speed trans for it. My son bought that trans, I'm not sure what he got, that his thing, it He told me it is much beefier that a stock 5 speed and will handle that power. We are going to modify the gear ratio and the posi unit diff. We know that with a modified 3800 S/C motor in a Fireo it can get into the low 11 sec range with out to much work. That is why we are going this route, we want a stock fitting motor and no one else will have anything like it. It will take time to build but when its done it will be one of a kind and somewhat stock looking from the outside. The car is a 88 Formula, Boost will run from 15 to around 22 and will also be able to run on E85 gas. We have callies connecting rods and custom made DDS pistons. Those are are go to pistons for all are builds The rest of the parts we can use small block GM. We are now looking for a 3.4 forged crank to hang them on/

Yes I know them well, We got the hilborn injection from a old racer on the forum, it was custom made by them for his car. Nice looking unit with six stacks facing inwood.

That's a neat looking block for your project. GM cast some "Aluminum Duke" blocks as well. I had the privilege of building one for comp. eliminator in an Opel GT. 5-speed Liberty transmission. Some similarities to your project. Good luck.

You can still get those iron duke blocks. I think from a guy in Kansas, They still use them for racing. The company bought the molds I was told. Now you can get that block with about 4 different head bolt patterns. It can even use a Ford head

That's interesting. The owner of the car I mentioned has since passed away. I think he just broke into the 7's with that car before he had to retire. Sorry to pull this off topic. Good luck with your Fiero.
