Default flow cooler water pump

So I had a little issue with my car this past Tuesday. Was out for some spirited driving, the water pump hub broke free from the shaft and sent the fan into the radiator. I will now never run a mechanical fan on my car, I won't get into why too long to type and don't want to argue with anyone.
Anyway I order another flow cooler pump, it was 10 years old the last one and was not the pumps fault. I read in summit about how the new flow coolers are better clearanced to the pumps. I had done clearanced the plate to the old pump.
Went to put the new pump on and it's about 1/8 inch away. I compared the 2 pumps and for sure the fins on the new flow cooler are longer than the old one.
I had to un clearance the plate to the new pump.

Sounds like progress to me. I have a flow cooler and have been very happy with it, but I did carefully clearance it as well.

Is the new one the closed style impeller, or is the open style with the sheet metal tacked to it? Just curious as they both worked about the same for me.

It's a billet wheel that look's like a turbine. I'll get a picture and post it later.

That's the same one I have now. It's the newer, closed style. Did it perform any differently for you?

The wheels look the same, new design is just a bit longer. I have not used the new pump yet, making some changes to the car, and fixing a header leak.

The one with the inducer must be the newer one. Mine didn't have that. Interesting, thanks for sharing.
