Default Has anyone ever seens a short height Transmission Mount

for the 64-72 GTOs in factory bolt up or in a Poly type mount?

I saw a trans mount that was 1/2" shorter height but it did not have the right bolt up to the trans rear housing.

Any info/help appreciated OPH or others??????

I'd be interested in a mount like this, too. The driveshaft is very close to the tunnel and a lower trans mount would give added clearance.

I've described on other posts how I tweaked the center of the floor area by jacking using a wood 2X4 and floor jack. This resolved the u-joint hitting the floor problem, but I'd like a bit more clearance.

It sounds like both of your problems could be related to your front mounts. Is it possible that your front crossmember is "sagged"? I have seen numerous A-body vehicles where the engine oil pan is almost resting on the crossmember and the fan is rubbing the bottom of the shroud. One "fix" is to shim the front engine mounts to raise the front of the engine, which would obviously lower the rear some. Just a thought.

Another cause for clearance problems is a bowed transmission crossmember. I've replaced a couple that had scars from either lifts or floor jacks.

You can try this Chevy mount. It dropped my ElCo T400 down a bit.

I came across this mount from a 66 Chevelle 4 door muncie 4 speed. I bought the transmission that clearly had never been rebuilt.

That is the one that I heard about (that was shorter) but did not have an application to go with it. Thanks. Can you measure the difference in the two heights?

This is the one I just bought for my Lemans. In the comments there is mention of this being the only option available for obsolete GM #334528. Lowered by about 3/8”.

I bought one of these hoping to correct tight front oil pan clearance, and tight U joint clearance on my 66 lemans, but haven't installed it yet

Is the Pioneer 622295 mount the short mount you are looking for or the 66 Chevelle 4 door mount? Or are they the same mount? I'm in the same situation, my driveshaft in my 65 GTO is close to the tunnel and sometimes it hits. The motor mounts also need to be changed as the oil pan is close to the centerlink. Trying to find motor mounts that are stock height as I here the offshore mounts today make the engine sit lower than stock. Figure I need a shorter trans mount to compensate. This is for a 4 speed. In the future I'm planning on a larger driveshaft with 1350 yoke so I definitely need the space.
