Default 1965 GTO Hood

Looking for an original nice hood, something that hasn't been bent in half, rusted out and "redone"
The cleaner, straighter the better. An original paint one would be best! What do you have? I'm in Illinois, though I could have it picked up by Uship or some shipper...thanks!

I have a 65-67 hood in South Bend. Let me check the condition, and get some pictures.

65 is a 1 year only hood as 66 & 67 / each year is different.

The only difference I'm aware of, is that the 65 hood used studs instead of bolts to attach to the hinges. 66-67 used bolts. What makes them different for each year?
This is what I have. Been sitting in the barn probably 20 years, No rust through, much surface rust, as shown. Comes with the insert for the scoop.

Looking for $450.00, will listen to any reasonable offers.

And those are on clips that can be removed and swapped out. The other difference would be holes in the nose of a '66 - '67 for the arrowhead emblem.

65 GTO has the Pontiac crest in the header panel not the hood. The 66-67 hood has the holes for the crest so they would have to welded and filled.

All original '65 hoods that came on a car came with provisions in the inner structure for access to the holes for the arrowhead emblem even though they did not start until '66. Replacement hoods had no holes in the outer panel for an arrowhead emblem. Therefore a '66 - '67 hood would be correct for a '65 once the holes were welded shut. Likewise, a '65 hood would be correct for a '66 - '67 once the holes were drilled. I have only ever seen 1 NOS hood, and I owned it. Bought it from a guy in Carlisle named Wayne (not Bennet) who was from Connecticut and was fairly well known in POCI. I knew him for years, always bought something from him and one day, he was gone and never seen of heard from him again. Good guy, hope he is still around.

Simple Man-

I'm interested in the hood, thanks for everyone giving good info on the differences, we can weld up those holes!
Simple- is this thing warped in any way? Is it just sanded down? Was it on a car that you decided not to use it on for some reason?
I appreciate the photos! Jon

Doesn't appear to be warped. I bought it the way you see it. I had a 65 Tempest with a GTO hood, and bought that one for a spare, along with some 66 GTO parts the guy was selling. That was 20 years ago, the hood is all I have from that transaction.

65 no holes for emblem & takes a snap in bolt clip to mount to hinges /66 has holes for emblem & takes a snap in bolt clip to mount to hinges / 67 has holes for emblem & does not take a snap in bolt clip to mount to hinges as it has a threaded insert & bolts to hinges . All 3 are different but can be used on any year if needed .
