I used to work on Fiat's at the dealership I worked at in the late 70's. They were poorly made then and very hard to work on. How the heck did this company survive all this time? I think the biggest problem with today's engines are extended oil change intervals and water thin oil. Oh, I forgot about planned obsolescence. Fiat/Chrysler has had that down pat for decades.

I've had 3 with the 5,7 and put more than 200k on each.....no issues whatsoever. I've owned quite a few trucks and the Dodge (Rams) have been really good...plus I could purchase them for several thousand less than the equivalent Ford or Chevy.

1978 131 in the driveway back in the day. My father bought it new, didn’t last long.

We haven’t had any issues with the motors on our dodges. But to be fair we have been trading them in at about 70-80k.
If you buy hem with 15-20k and sell with 70-80k it seems to be sort of a sweet spot where you don’t lose $$. These were all chargers though. The 4.7 Ram I had for work went to 180k and had no issues. It was a 2013 |

I have a 97 with a 318,and an 03 with a 5.7. The 97 has 300k on it, and the 03 has 250k on it. The only major issues have been rust. Both engines have not had any issues other than maintenance.

I’d put money on a magnum V8 or a old 318 or 360 outlasting a new Hemi any day.
