The Silverbird wasn't too successful, but man, did it look bad ass. I still have some vacu-formed bodies from the late 70's/early 80's of the Silverbird, for a 1/12 scale radio control race car, 1/32, and HO scale slot cars.
In one race though it beat all the Porsches at Laguna Seca -- the photo you posted is that race I believe .

I don't thinks so. I don't believe the Canadian Pontiacs were even labelled "Pontiac" in '55 (Laurentian, etc.). Also, since the Canadian Pontiacs were actually Chevrolet chassis, I'm pretty sure the Pontiac V8 wasn't available in Canada.
I can only assume that it's a picture of an early tentative ad produced prior to the car's actual production plans (V8 only).

After your other post, I enlarged that photo to study the engines better. They are chevys as best I can tell. Look where the generator mounts. The Pontiac had it on top and on the right side. Those are on the left. Further, I see no exhaust ports below the valve covers, just a manifold. Think they are chev V8s. must be Canadian or export of some sort. That is my best guess. When you get time, check your PMs.

7O Steve
yeah, I like old trucks too but, am really more of a car/boat guy. Do really like the '57 to '6O Fords. Here is a '58.

I have been building a '59 F35O Dually for some time. Upgrading the entire driveline with a 5.9 Cummins turbo and 5 speed trans. Just the other day I painted the cab and today, had a bunch of friends over to set it back on the chassis. Would post a pic but, not appropriate for this thread.

On the wreck, know nothing about it. Here are some more wrecked Pontiacs.. Of course, I own hundreds of these old Pontiacs here, kind of like an orphanage for discarded Pontiacs. Cannot get enough of them but, only go back to '55 and up to '81. V8 years.

This was at Keystone dragway in 1980.

Steve, I remember reading a bit about your Ford..it's going to earn its keep when you finish it and move the yard!

That Ford you posted is an Australian one, and a Victorian one to boot. I'm just going off the rego, I can't read the name on the door.

Here are some more old things...
