Default Cold Case Radiator Fit in 65 GTO

Got my Cold Case radiator today for my 65 GTO. It looks great! The only problem is it is just a little bit narrower than the old radiator which makes it loose fitting under the top hold down bracket. Has anybody else experienced this issue and if so, what did you use to fix it?

Does your bracket still have the rubber strip in it?

Yes, the original one. I thought about fabricating a new bracket to go underneath the original.

You need to buy the 3 core rubber inserts for the top and bottom rad mounts. Ames has a kit to convert 4 core to 3 core

3 core bracket kits you may need to shave the rubber a bit. 4 core brackets will work. There is a little play but once all hoses hooked up and ready to go, you're pretty safe.

Another option that we just came out with is our SD/HO radiators. They have even bigger tanks. and bigger core but don't look quite as original. With these HO units, we also don't offer a correct 64-65 RH RH inlet outlet. You'd have to go to a 66 waterneck and upper hose. It's a trade off that each of you will have to decide between.
but realize that we offer more choices than anyone else. At least you have a choice!

Thanks everyone. Talked with AMES tech today. He said the 3 row insulators would not fit so I guess I will just go with it as is. As was said, the hoses should keep it from moving once installed.

I imagine you can just shim the inside of the bracket with rubber or foam of your own making from a hardware store. You won't be able to see it regardless.

How does your radiator fit a 77 TA 400 AC. Looking for perfect fit.

In a separate topic, I posted how the radiator fit my 1977 Bandit car. For the TA, mounting is pretty straight forward. The oem insulators need to line up and fit and the size of the radiator needs to be pretty accurate so you can remount the oem fan shroud. Trans cooler fittings should be in the right spot. All of this was good for my installation.

Thank you. I can't tell. Are you saying its a direct fit, no modifications.

It's very nice and clean looking.
Only thing you will have to do is make up brackets to mount it to the frame, since the original fan shroud held that radiator in.
