Default Car won't start and resistance wire is hot/smoking

I just installed a new M&H engine wiring harness and the car will not start. The voltage is super low (5 mv) to the + side of the distributor and the resistance wire is hot/smoking. Please help.

You most likely have the resistance wire grounding somewhere, drawing a lot of current (smoking),and zerovolts at the dist.

Default M&H

I removed then re-installed the bulkhead connector and now my voltage at ignition #1 is around 7.5 v. However, it looks like my points took a beating. Thx!
