Goodness, he and his long
G time wife had split up, not too long ago.
He lived 75 years, I pray that were good years!

Uh oh, I smell a tri-fecta coming.
I knew he was a bit older than the rest of The Cars, but didn't realize he was that old.

CARS...good times. What great music he brought us, fresh sound. Got lucky more than a few times in my old Pontiac's over the years listening to some CARS. The go to warm up music from back in the day.

Hummm, think I will take out the GTO this afternoon with the GF, I still have the cassette from back in the day. See if the magic is still there......RIP

Don’t ask me why I remember this, but when Ocasek got married David Letterman said “He’s the luckiest man alive!” Always did seem kind of like one of those wtf couples to me, she was HOT

One of my Faves was the Rick Ocassek/Ray Manzarek collaboration.
The Car Doors.
Great stuff!

Never got to see them in concert, but liked their music as well. Much like Tom Petty, also missed the chance to see him in concert. RIP Ric Ocasek

It's old now, but their music was pretty fresh back then. Great for a young GenX'er like myself. They called it new wave, but it was just early alternative.

Their music peaked as i was 'coming of age'. I had all of their albums, and looked forward to when a new one was released. Oh, the good ole days. I played guitar in a few bands in my younger years, the very first song I learned was "I guess your just what i needed".

I was just talking to a friend of mind and said, "I wish the Cars would get back together so I could see them". A few days later, he died.

RIP Ric.

They got their start playing at campus bars around the Ohio State university in Columbus Ohio back in the 60s. His oldest son still lives around Columbus.
