Default A smaller Thanksgiving this year

Being a person with a compromised immune system, our Thanksgiving will only be the two of us this year I will still cook and make a dinner package for my Daughter to pick up curb side at my house for her to take home. I won’t be making as much, but will make the best of it, start a fire in the wood stove and watch TV. Anyone else changing your plans this year?

We are in the same situation. Compromised immune system, staying home. I figure it only happens every hundred years or so. Have to grind it out.

We have family thats close by but it will just be the twins who live at home and the two of us. Decided to forgo the Turkey and have a small ham instead. I make a potato salad from a recipe thats been passed down through the generations. The girls will be making the pies and sweet potatoes, wife cooks the Ham.

Just the wife and me this year. But, the only relative left in my immediate family is my son who lives in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Usually drive across the mountains to my mom & dad's and there's usually 10-15 of us, but not this year. Dad passed last year and step-mom is in her 80s so best to just stay home this year. She has her daughter and son living with her, so she's not all alone. We're going to do a family zoom call Wednesday night, but that's about it. Otherwise it'll just be me & my girlfriend this year.

I'm going over my sisters. 20-30 people. A quick nap from 6-7 pm and banging down a few while shooting pool.

We were going to brother in law's for small get together........... but he was possibly exposed last week. So we cannot bring his 81 year old mom to see him, so it will just be me , wife and MIL at our place......

Yep..... sucks..... and with no end in sight..... yet

First off Sea Turkeys sound amazing...

Second I agree with live every (holi)day as it’s your last.

Wife has an immune deficiency so it will just be us and our daughters, but that’s no different than normal. Wife usually goes all out- I make the bird and she makes everything else.

I wish she wouldn’t feel obligated to do it- but it’s been a crappy year and if she can give the kids a nice holiday she’s gonna do it.

Our "normal" Thanksgiving is our daughter (who lives 200 miles away) joining us for the long weekend. We enjoy the full meal deal turkey dinner with all the fixings on Thursday and thengo to the MN Wild home NHL game on Friday.

Daughter has to work on Friday this year (juggled schedule so we could all go to a gourmet wine pairing dinner up here and a beer pairing German dinner down by her earlier this fall). There is no NHL hockey at this time.

Christmas will be at her house as usual, except for our grandson, who joined the Marines in March as the lockdowns started. Poor kid has not been allowed off a Marine base since he entered the Corp, and all his travel since reporting to MCRT San Diego has been on military transport. Marine Corp bus from San Diego to Camp Pendleton and military transport plane from CA to Pensacola, FL.

Bring on the vaccines so we can be released from the government mandated lockdowns and we can go see our grandson or he can come home to see us.

Actually,it is just gonna be myself and the dogs this year.

The wife flew down to Georgia to see her parents and their new house.Gonna be ten at their dinner table.

In my mother in laws side of the family, nobody makes it past their mid 60s,and my MIL is 66,so my wife wanted to get down there while everyone is still good.

Going to play it cautious this year and it will just be the wife and myself. I am even skipping the yearly Turkey Bowl game. I was MVP last year 3 touchdowns and 3 forced fumbles. So maybe it was time to go out on top anyway, turned 50 this year it is getting tough on these old muscles. After the games even the muscles in my toes hurt. Of course it helped we played in 4 inches of snow last year, helped slow up those young-ins down. Well now that I am skipping the morning Turkey Bowl game I am probably going to have to help the wife cook turkey diner.
Stay safe everyone

Well whatever your plans for Thanksgiving this year, I will still make a BIG batch of stuffing it’s my favorite thing about the day.

From my house to you and yours have a very nice day be safe...be happy! here is a picture of what used to be for us, we always went to Old Country Buffet on Thanksgiving, then I cooked for Christmas. A tradition that will now be gone forever sadly, as the restaurant chain has closed its doors permanently. we would also celebrate my Son in-laws BD with a personal cake. I’m going to miss this tradition.
