Default Thrush 89021

Planning on installing the Thrush 89021 on a 2nd gen Trans Am with 2-1/2" Ram Air Restorations exhaust manifolds RM-2-OS.

Do the 3 bolt flanges that come with the exhaust system fit these manifolds, or do I need to buy the FL-1-OS oversize flanges from them?

The 89021 is meant to be used with headers so you will need to get head pipes and the proper flanges for your manifolds.

Thanks ID67goat. I planned on using the downpipes from RA. I guess I'll need their flanges.

Did you ever install this Thrush system? If you did, how do you like it?

I'm wanting something that sounds quiet at cruise inside the car, rather than the Flowmasters I have now that are too loud.

Thanks

Hey DanC, it's still sitting in my basement. Had other issues I wanted to fix first. Should get it in this winter.

Ive used that 89021 system before and I like it for several reasons.

One being that it still uses the standard in and out bends that go into the transverse muffler which means you can swap that muffler with any other standard transverse style muffler. Can't do that with the pypes sgf70 setup as it uses their own in and out configuration.

Because of that I've often swapped the thrush muffler that comes with the 89021 with a dynomax ultra flow transverse, it bolts right in.

If you don't mind aluminized pipe and an h instead of an x cross over, it's a nice system. Very quiet with the thrush muffler and all mandrel bent.

Thank you for the reply. I was hoping to hear from someone who has actually used it and what their thoughts were. I like the idea of it being quiet, especially going down the interstate.
