Default 67 GTO Sports Steering Wheel

G'Day People,
Just a question. Is the reproduction simulated wood sports wheel that AMES sells the same one as OPGI sell? If not the same ,which is the better one. My original one has seen better days and I'd like to replace it. Thanks in advance.

I would think they are the same. I'm not sure if there is more than 1 company making repro steering wheels for 67. I used the one from Ames and it is a nice piece.

I believe they all come from the same manufactuer, but not 100% positive as certain parts have more than one maker

Default Steering Wheel

Just a thought, but you may want to have yours ( if it is an original) refurbished. You may have a better wheel in the long run.

Would love to get mine done but being in Australia it makes it a bit difficult and I am not sure we have anybody here that would do it correctly.

I have been told that the reproduction wheels are made by Parts Place in Chicago. I got mine from them for my '67 but I actually ordered the '68 wheel as the '67's are just too big...at least for me.

jhfaust...is the diameter different(smaller) or is it just the depth of the dish? I feel my 67 wheel is too close and a "stretch" to reach the turn signal switch. In hindsight I would choose the 68 wheel because it has a shallower dish.
