Default 67 His and Hers console install.

I am installing a dual gate shifter and console in my 67. I need some pictures of installed consoles so I can get it in the right spot. Thanks.

If you have the factory front bracket that bolts to the trans tunnel, it can only go in one spot.

Here is the best picture I have of the front bracket in case you don't have it. You can see it near the top of the transmission tunnel. It has ears that stick up on both sides to screw the console to. Do you already have the floor shifter installed?

For clarification, I had to do the same thing, if I remember correctly wasn't there dimples in the floor to correctly locate the bracket?

The car has new floors in it. So the brackets aren't there. I also bought the front bracket. I want a picture with the console in and the seats in so I can see where the console sits in relation with the seats all the way back. the car is a pro street car with a cage in it. I have the stock front seats and the stock console with the dual gate shifter.

Reviving this thread instead of asking the same thing.

Next project is installing an auto console into my car that is missing the console. Current car has bucket seats, carpet and a Hurst quarter stick shifter, no console. I hate the quarter stick and want to replace it with the QuickSilver and console from my donor car.

My donor car with the console never had carpet. Does the front console bracket and shifter mount to the floorpan, and then the carpet fits around them? Do the rear console mounting screws go through the carpet and into the floor? Any pics showing fitment and mounting would be great.

Here are some photos of the original carpet and how I installed the new one. All the console and seat mounting is hidden by the carpet.

I'm redoing my carpet right now too. I've got the rear piece installed along with the seat belts. My old carpet was installed with the seats sitting on top of the carpet, but I want to install the seats directly to the floor pan. However, I don't want to hack up my carpet like the instructions say to do it. I'm going to cut the "t" in the carpet for each mounting position and try and mount the seats. I know it's going to be hard to do but there has got to be a better way than the way they tell you how to do it.

I don't know what your instructions say but here's what I did to mimic the factor cuts in the carpet. Laying down some painters tape and cutting along the drawn straight lines made for a clean result. Also, if you're cutting for the console shifter cable and wire, offset the cut towards the drivers side from center by 0.6".

GtoBen,
Okay I see how you are doing your carpet. I just don't know if I want to make those long cuts from front to back for the seats. I noticed your carpet was underneath the firewall insulation pad, is that the way it's supposed to be done? My carpet was over the insulation pad.

Yes, the insulation pad is over the carpet.

You don't need to make the long slit for the console cable. Cut so the cable doesn't pull the carpet away from the floor. the cuts for the seat tracks need to allow the carpet to swing over the feet and lay flat if you try to slide it in, it'll make it difficult to tighten the mounting nuts without ripping the carpet along the cut.
