Default Seat Belt Retractor QUestions

I always thought and was maybe told the tag on seat belt with retractors went face down, like on your lap. Also the slot in the housing was closer to the seat than the door panel. Are both of these right or? Same on all years? Reason I ask is because I have original, unmolested retractors that have the slot in the housings on both the inside and outside with the tag down and vicea versa. Answers.

Dr. Mr. Zboo,

1966 Fremont built.

1) LH retracted. Two slots, one on outside, one on inside. Squeeze to remove cover.

2) RH pulled out. Tag face down, facing lap.

Hope this helped.

Chris.

Revision.

About that “slot”.

Bob,
Assuming the slot question pertains to where the belt comes out.

Both sides have the slot towards the seat as seen above.
