Default Let's see your 64-65 LeMans/Tempest

I love GTOs as much as the next guy, but let's see who else here has a LeMans to show off. I'll start, this is mine about a month ago when I went to Cape Cod and got it. I'm changing the wheels/tires and that's about it.

75ta4spd, where on the Cape was that Lemans? I can't say I have ever seen it, I spend some time down there sometimes.

Looks beautiful though, and from your sig, nicely optioned. Congrats!

It was in South Yarmouth. The car was originally from South Carolina. Thanks for the compliments, the car is in really nice shape. I drove it home 8 hours without a hitch.

Nice cars guys, keep 'em coming!

Very Nice!! I wish we weren't coming into winter. I would really like to have a little more fun with mine this year, but it's all put up.

here is mine to share with.
It is a '65 Tempest sedan originally 6cyl/auto from Detroit with some rust here and there. This made it a perfect candidate to chop it up and make it something special. I am turning it into something close to what I would have built in 1965 should I have been around at that time.
This will be a for real blown, injected Tempest altered wheelbase funny car. It will not be bracket raced, it will be an exhibition car for wheel stands, burnouts and lots of noise for crowd appeal and possibly some match racing.
Rear wheel base moved forward 10", front frame stretched 7", radiator mounted under the trunk ( where stock gas tank would be ) for occasional street use.
Engine is my own custom tall deck 389 bored and stroked to 577", 14-71 blown, E heads, Lenco trans with Crower clutch, Lakewood can, polished era correct slot mags, glass fenders. Still undecided on the rear end, either 9 1/4" Pontiac or 9".
There is already a million hours into this fun project and I plan to debut the car this spring at Pontiac Heaven X (running or not). It should be together and running ready for testing in 2008.
These are the first pics I have taken of the car mocked up and shared.

Here is my 65,

Uncle Sam bought it for me this year for my birthday in April. Already restored the rear trim, taillights and bezels. Did some interior resto. Next is to tackle that passenger fender so the headlight bezel fits. Drill some holes for the Lemans lettering rear quarter and off to paint for a coat of Nightwatch.

I've seen pictures of a Tempest with GTO badging, a GTO clone, Jim Taylor's Tempest that would put most GTOs to shame, and Steve Barcek's blown '65. How about some pics of my real '64 GTO without any of the badges?

That is one bada$$ poncho. Heck, I'm shooting for a low 10 second street car and you're deep in the 8's. Would love to see you bring it to Norwalk some year.

Default 1964 Lemans.....

.....with GTO hood and badges.

Done waaay back in the '70s by a previous owner, when 'cloning' was only done in a laboratory.

The '6.5 Litre' fender badges were always missing, so a couple of weeks ago I decided to finish the job.
