Good luck Greg, too bad you don't have a bigger cam to take to the dyno with you for comparison, maybe someone will loan you one? Would be nice to see both sides. I know the BOP intake will really shine with a bigger cam.

My 541 was designed in 2001. You have more cam and much better heads and mine made 903 HP at 6400 RPM....on methanol. I would think you would be over that number on race gas...say 910 HP.

I have a Jim Robertson sheet metal intake running twin Flying Toilets.

I see so many chev 540's make close to 800hp on pump fuel but these poncho 541's are always close to the 900 range.

I am clueless, but why is that? or maybe I am wrong

either way, sound like a SICK combo!

850 + easy.
Why did you go with such a short rod Gregg.
The cam is a bit small but it is not like the thing is tiny.
Are those wide port versions of High Ports or are the stock .200 HP pushrod location.
If they are those are the best flowing ones I have seen.
Even if they have been moved 400cfm is still 400cfm and you will have tons of power.

Dragncar i had a 4.35 stroke and went to a 4.5,the pistons only had 12 passes on them and i didnt want to spend the money on new ones so i wacked off some of the dish and put in the rod that would fit.Greg

Saw 900+ coming a mile away. Even though the cam could have more duration, it's got great lift and these big inch Ponchos LOVE lift, especially with really good flowing heads. The ported BOP helps too. Congrats! Nasty setup.

Great numbers, Greg!

I'd forget the piss-gas and use the good stuff.

(or maybe some more HP using alky )
