I need help I have a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville I can't get the headlights to turn off I have changed the switch I've checked the fuses in the light modular and sensors I have to disconnect the negative battery terminal for them to go off any suggestions?

Doesn't it have a relay? Or is this what you mean by "changed the switch"?

Too new for me. So just thinking out loud.
Does this car have a headlight timer? That keeps lights on for exiting the car at night. If yes, can it be turned off and on? Google search might be your friend with this one. Just to see if it's a common problem and what causes it. BTW How did you check the headlight control module? Clay |

Do the tail lamps also stay on? If not it could be a problem with the Daytime Running Lamp (DRL) system. Check the owner’s manual and see if it shows a DRL fuse in any of the fuse centers. If it has one remove the fuse and see it the headlamps go off. If they do then see if you can turn the headlamps on and off manually with the headlamp switch (like you would with an older car). When I bought my new 97 G/P I didn’t care for how the DRL worked and pulled the DRL fuse. To this day I turn the headlamps on and off manually with the headlamp switch.
