I have a 400 hood that I would like to make functional for my carb. At first I was thinking about going the Ram Air IV direction, but it's just way too expensive for my budget.

Then I saw a video of a 1968 Ram Air II Firebird on YouTube. The video didn't show the underside of the 400 hood, but the air cleaner was crazy simply with just an outer shell around it with a seal around the top. It looked super basic, which is great.

Seems like I can find kits to make a RA IV setup all day long, but who is making a RA II reproduction setup/kit that I can buy for my hood and carb?

I'll be running a Holley and I don't mind doing whatever modifications are necessary to get everything to fit right to the top of the carb.

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to my 461 not sucking all the hot air from inside the botton of the metal hood that the headers are pumping into the engine bay (haven't wrapped them yet)!

Is that everything though? It's like $400-$500 less than the RA IV setups which is great, but is it missing anything?

The kit is all you need. Of course, the way the hood and front of the nose is made, it has been proven that it do not really help with the quality of air the motor gets. But it looks cool

Also had an offer from a person on a used pan. I gotta do the math though and see if it makes sense to buy a pan then buy the rest separate or get the kit for $449

BTW, anyone know the K&N or similar air filter that fits these Ram Air setups?

Too bad there isn't a filter that will let water droplets though when its raining hard, best way to clean your combustion chambers ever haha!

Takes a regular Pontiac 400 air filter. K&N is a total waste of money, the only thing it does well is extract money from your wallet.
