This guy is making some cool 409 intakes and heads especially his Z12 stuff. Might be a source to check with.

Quick story -

I just noticed the other intake in the background of this photo.

When I grabbed the bathtub from under Dad's workbench it was sitting on a piece of plywood. That low rise 2X4 intake was under the plywood.

I didn't even know we had it.

Sounds more like a "bathtub list".

Tom, have you been running this manifold with air cleaners and does it all fit under a stock hood? I'd be interested in a bathtub for street/strip but I don't want to cut a hole in my hood.

I have it under a 63 tempest with velocity stacks with screens.I ran it under a 63 Cat with the SD type AC.Not sure it would fit the tempest with real air cleaners without the SD scoop. The factory actually made a few lower intakes just for the SD tempests.Tom

Yeah, I figured it would be a tight squeeze under stock hoods. I have a 65 GTO in mind, but I don't think you can fit a bathtub with air cleaners. Maybe not even without air cleaners. Would love to run one in a 63 Tempest with a SD scoop though.

I will drop the car on the lift sunday and will see if I can get a number from the center of the valley pan to the tops of the AFB with no AC.I do have 1/2 in spacers under the carbs.Tom

It will fit under a '65 GTO hood, look here to see how it fit on my '64 GTO:

With careful work a low profile air cleaner can be fabricated, carb spacers must be limited to perhaps nothing more than thick insulating gaskets.

I'm hoping this thread does not disappear if I can somehow get this done.WONT be cheap,if anyone is thinking under $2000 I don't think it can happen.Just too small of run to get molds, get cast and get machined.Been told a small issue just like the factory is core shift, don't always get 100 percent machinable castings and you have 2 PC to get machined.Tom

Tom, do you remember if the Repop intakes had any additional material/height added to area above the port for taller ported heads or if it was like the factory bathtub?
