Guy around here has a set of kre d ports drilled for the early intake pattern, but don't think he has any plans of using them.

Tom, it would be so sweet if when the intake was digitally scanned that the runner area above the flange were raised for taller port heads

I am thinking most with the taller ports will just have to tig some material on top of the flange.

I had to do this to the repop RAIV , two Torker IIs I use (one on the 78 TA now one on the 455 Stump Puller motor for the 81 TA on the engine stand)and a Tomahawk I wanted to try for either KRE or the SD ported heads. Not a big deal. Will just need a clean up mill afterwards.

Keep in mind that the entire intake port is raised up by .250" on a '64 and earlier head compared to the '65 and laterD-port heads. The intake bolt pattern is exactly the same with the exception of the two bolts at the front water crossover between early and late heads.
You might still need to add some material for a really tall port, but you're already ahead of the game by a full quarter inch. Adding material to extend the port floor downward will likely be the issue moreso than the port roof. I'm interested in one as well. Was planning on using my Doug Nash tunnel ram on our '61 Catalina, but if I've got an opportunity to get a Bathtub then that's even better. To me it's the best looking intake Pontiac ever made!

Agree. On a full size Pontiac from the SD period, It has that really serious factory race car look. Even if not up to current state of the art performance levels, if not running a specific class, classic factory looking SD parts are a winner.

Im kind of surprised no one has recast it in large quantities. Its one of the coolest Pontiac intakes ever made. I can't imagine it wouldn't sell. The alum tri-power that's now available seems to sell decent why wouldn't a recast bathtub?

Just like the inexpensive iron pontiac block.ROI is just not there.If I can get my hands on the molds I will get maybe a dz done.At that rate the cost for casting and machine work is high.If you could run a 100 or so at one time it would come down but you have a lot of money tied up.If you make a serious biz then the product liability insurance comes into play along with the prop 65 BS we go thur here.If you sent the molds to China and did a bunch the cost would come down even more but quantity would have to go up and then a whrse to store them,package and ship.Baby steps at this time.Tom

I think making this manifold is a super cool idea. Not trying to talk it down in any way. I want one! Just personally don't think there is a market for 100+ of them. But I have certainly been wrong plenty of times. Not a deal breaker, but I would certainly prefer mine with a water crossover. If you don't want one. Hack saw it off. Much easier to remove it than try to cobble one on a manifold that doesn't have it.

It looks to be approx. 1 inch shorter than a Wenzler. Mike I think you could sell 40-50 of these within a reasonable time. 100 I am not sure about. I would take 2 (one for current engine and one for back up on the stand. I know 4 NSS guys that would buy now. as they are either running a Wenzler or Offy. This just looks much better.

No advantage to cast without the X over as whatever valve angle you cast for it will require a lot of work to port match.As I said,there will be a lot more sales for late water pattern.Wish I felt confident as the board!Tom
