Default Diet Time, Again ! :(

Well, I usually wait til at least the 1st, or even 'til after the super bowl, to begin my annual diet.

But, because of holiday eating, as well as too many all-you-can-eat seafood buffets & Pizza Hut buffets, I dare not put off my diet any longer.

So, it officially began right after Christmas dinner.

I'm posting this for 2 reasons.

(1) So that I can't quit. Would look bad on me if I quit, after posting this.

(2) To help encourage others here who may also need to lose a few pounds.

Hey, together we can do it !

I’m about to do the same. Went on a bulking phase over the past 8-10 weeks. Lifting heavy, no cardio, etc... got up to about 225. It’s easy to do it over the holidays!

Come Jan 1st I am adding in cardio, lifting lighter and cutting calories. Going to drop to about 210 by March 1.

Good idea posting to keep yourself accountable!

I think you mean Wheat Belly! by William Davis. Great book..

See Dr Jack Wolfsons web page ( world renound cardiologist)

Listen to Dr Ken Berrys' youtube videos.

I don't generally let it be known because in the past I have heard comments like "Yeah I should take health advise from the "car guy"" but I have been Ketogenic for 5 years & have been studying heavily towards getting certified as an NTC for the future. I also practice what I preach! At 57 year sold, I have a 29 inch waist, a resting heart rate of 53 BPM & a percentage of body fat just over what a professional athlete does.

If anyone is serious about getting healthy, curing type 2 diabetes, Auto Immune diseases, etc....I will be glad to steer you in the right direction for free. Once I pay the 5 grand & get certified I will be charging for my consultations.

God Bless & Happy New Year

It's WHEAT BELLY . I have a couple years experience. Watch Dr Davis 1 hour lecture and it will make sense. I don't eat wheat, or grains, or starches, but I do eat breads made with other flours. You would be surprised how fast pounds come off when you don't eat stuff your body was not made to digest.

Excellent Bill! I went from 38 to 32 waist, and dropped 30+ pounds. I don't get hungry much at all. My blood work looks much better too.
It's amazing how much the food industry has fooled people. I'm not a vegan, but I eat to live ~vs~ Live to eat.
Nothing tastes as good as thin and healthy feels.

Best of luck Ponyakr!

The wife and I have been doing keto for about 9mos now. Absolutely love it. Eating like kings (I love to cook) and we've lost almost 100lbs between us.

Keto really works if you can stick to it. I’ve seen several people lose significant weight on it

Thanks for all the info guys !

But, I don't need any recommendations for diet or exercise plans. I don't have any trouble losing weight, once I decide to do it. Have lost 30-50lbs on several diets.

Then, after I lose it, I start slipping in a few all-you-can-eat buffets, then the holiday season comes & there's lots of good stuff to eat. So, I go on a diet around the 1st of every year.

I understand that some need the latest & greatest diet & exercise equipment. But, I've never needed those.

I posted this thread to encourage others, and to help keep me away from those buffets I love so much, 'til AFTER I lose the weight. Done said it. So now I must do it !

PS: I've lost 10 lbs since Christmas day. That 1st 10 lbs is always easy, because it's mostly liquid. But, it's always encouraging to lose it that quick.

I’m the same way- I know what works for me. I plan things out and cycle up/down. I have started cutting down on drinking and eating cleaner in January. Last year I went from 250 to 210 and was ready for summer.

I’ve found TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) made a huge difference in reaching my goals

As with Ponyaker I’m going to use this to keep myself accountable. Up to 225 in December- 220 right now. Goal is 205-210 by March 1 for our trip to Hawaii. There- it’s written down. No going back now

The next 5 was much harder than the 1st 10. But I'm down 15 now.

Plan to lose either 25 or 30(haven't decided which yet), then splurge, with an all-you-can-eat buffet. It'll be at Golden Corral, because they have so many choices.

Hey, if you get there by 10:30, you can eat breakfast, then lunch, too, including soft serve ice cream, for one low price. It's less than $10 a head for us old codgers( and all other senior citizens).

Glad you brought it up ! Lookin forward to it. Encourages me to lose quicker.

Then, after recovering from that buffet, I plan to go down to at least 200lbs, before the next buffet.

Hey, for you guys who have never even been up close to 200 lbs, & have never had a weight problem, count your blessings.

A few years ago I hit 199 and stopped getting on scales. Was at least 220 for a few years. Got into the dieting and exercise got below 200. Total off diet by still exercise (light cardio) just weighed in at 203 fully dressed after eating a lot of big home cooked holiday meals.

Nothing like the feeling of making what were once tight jeans fall to the ground by jumping up and down.

I'm going to shoot for being a consistent 190 by summer. Then if possible do keto again and get me some abs.

Down 20 !

Was gonna wait a bit longer. But, TJ has to go to Monroe to buy some supplies she can't buy local. So, I'll just have my 1st buffet celebration at 20lbs down.

Will take a few days to lose that. But, it'll be so worth it !
