Default Dash assembly

Putting a new dash bezel, instrument lens etc together. The old one is apart so I cannot reference it.
Question is::
Is there a small gap and the top of the gauges and dash bezel looking at it from the front? My lens sits of the bezel about 3/32".

Can you post a photo with an arrow in it showing the air gap?

I could tell you if it's ok or the problem may be that you do not have the "stack sandwich" of the cluster properly attached to the back of the bezel.

There is a right way and several wrong ways to do it. There are 4 rubber "bumpers" or touch points that press up against the clear lens to prevent creaks or squeaks in the dash. If you leave those out you will have a very annoying plastic creaking / or rattling sound in your dash every time the weather changes; that or whenever you drive over a speed bump that you will never be able to find or cure. The only way to fix that noise is to remove the bezel and take the gauges off of the back and put it together the right way!

I think I found the problem. This is a new Parts Place bezel and the stand offs where the screws go in are about .080 longer than the original ones.

Default Lens rubber bumpers, 2 on the bottom and 2 more near the top.

GM used to put in 4 rubber "bumpers" in there, in behind the bezel that support the lens. Are those bumpers there?

You have to make them, they do not come with a new bezel.

There is an error in the new 1967 Chrome bezel. The mounting post that is just above the fuel gauge (in between the 1st & 2nd circles) is too short. The other 7 "posts" are fine. You need to shim the short post with a 3/32" washer. A longer screw is then required at that mount post only to take up the thickness of the washer.

Ground the stand offs that the bolts go in about .095 to allow the lens to touch the back of the gauge pods. Had a pretty good gap at the top between the pod and the lens.
I did not have any 3m strip caulk but did use a small amount of a roll of windshield seal.

Those example photos were from a long time ago. They show a '65 GTO bezel but the same touch bumpers were used on all 64- to 67 Pontiac A body gauges so that is why those photos; those were what I had to share.

Agree, I have since found that 3M windo-weld sealer #08612 round bead is a very, VERY close match to what GM put in there originally. (That would be the pair of approximately 1" long horizontal strips that touch the very bottom edge of the clear lens.)

The 3M window weld is what I had and it worked well so far.
