If you size the shroud to the core, how do these shrouds not bend into the core fins?

not finding pics of the core side of the shrouds. are the flanged to not bend the core fins?

Depends which shrouds. Most come with a type of rubber rail/tubing to cover the edge of the shroud, and you don't have to crank it down hard. Most mount to the frame.

Which radiator, and which shroud do you have?

Pics help a lot.

Default DERALE

Have not made the plunge yet.

Derale tech recommends the pn 16836 dual fan and shroud. wont cover my entire core but close enough?

doesn't come as a powerpack kit. I must confess, I see a lot of bad reviews regarding the derale controllers. thoughts? input greatly appreciated. new to the electric fan install.

Yeah, this is the same fan/shroud in a Powerpack version, which is the one step smaller one I was talking about:

https://derale.com/product-footer/el...753-764-detail

It won't cover it completely, but it still will work just fine. You're losing very little coverage if you do the math.

Controllers they make are great, Derale had some issues with the non-PWM ones, and the early PWM ones, but the new ones are excellent.

All the 'bad' reviews I've seen are like 4+ years old. Many problems are due to the car's wiring, installer's wiring, bad battery, and/or bad alt. I know 3 people who have been using them for 3+ years, not a problem, and fairly high mile-driven cars (50-70k range).

If it doesn't work, send it back. Buy it through Summit or Jegs and they will refund immediately. If you're concerned about the controller, get the non-Powerpack one, and use a Dakota Digital or PAC one.

Default powerpack info

Thanks for all the info HWYSTR455

i'm really perplexed that derale tech didn't state the 2 powerpack setups you linked to. I replied asking again about best dual fan powerpack they recommend with my info just to see what they say.

I like the larger 18" one, but will have to check if it will fit ok. rather not battle sealing problems.

I do only have 1 3/4" at the radiator to steering box and I see both powerpacks are 2 3/4 at the shroud so I would have to cut and mod the lower corner there on either.

great help, thank you very much!

Yeah, the tech guys either take the easy way out or aren't the brightest, they are front line 'helpdesk' type, like that guy in India that says to make sure it's plugged in.

I forgot about the steering box, and although you can clearance the shroud, it will be easier to go to the next size down like that last one I posted.
