Unitized Ignition
Thanks to PY members Pat (PB) and Rocky (Rocky Rotella) the service replacement distributor(1112203) is ready to be installed back into my 72 Trans Am. The wiring harness was modified to accommodate the HEI distributor that is currently in the car. I need to source the original snap-in connectors for the power source and the tach wire. Any suggestions where I might find these?

M&H has the connectors as part of its complete wiring harness. It may be able to sell you the connectors separately. It's worth a shot.

M AND H ELECTRIC
they definitely sell the tach. wire because I just got one, not that expensive and I only used the part that seperates from the fuse and plugs into the tach., I do not know regarding your other needs

I was able to source the connectors after an exhausting search from Potomac Classic Pontiac. http://potomacclassic.com/. I spoke to Ron and he was super helpful, a great source.

I have an original transistorized distributor in a box. Do any of you know where I can get it serviced in the Chicago area? Not sure if it is working. My T/A currently has a 1975ish HEI installed. I will need those connectors as well to reconvert it back to original.

I take it, transistorized distributor = unitized distributor. I too had PB rewire and check ohms for functionality.
What else can Rocky check? Did he recurve as well?

What was the cost to rebuild and test if I may ask? You can PM if needed. Also, do you have the URL for M&H Electric?

We got the unitized installed and only runs with it rotated. Does this look right or is the index off?

Make sure the crank and piston are set to top dead center of #1. Check the timing mark as you rotate the crank shaft at it may be 180 degrees off. When you drop in the distributor the rotor should be lined up with the #1 wire. After that is should start and run and then you car adjust timing. Good luck.

The vacuum advance should be pointing at the driver's side cylinder head rear inside freeze plug.

The part number on my unitized distributor is 1112133 with a date code of 1G13. Is this correct for a 1972 T/A with an automatic?

uni. dist.
I have that exact same unit and date code...11/71 build for car and I was told that would be correct...although mine was originally points, then H.E.I.

Thanks. I'll check ohms per the service manual. If all else fails I'll sent it to Pat and Rocky for rebuild.
