Default 1965 Catalina 2 + 2

I'm seriously considering parting with my '65 Cat 2+2. If you are interested, you can view some photos of the car in the PY photo album(19652plus2). You can also call me at 1-917-693-2716. I'm asking $28K.

Additional pics can be viewed on http://pontiac2plus2registry.com

Thanks, Peter

One of the nicest 2+2's I've encountered over the years.

Bump.

I'd like to mention a few of the car's details. It has the original drive train including a 3 speed manual trans, WG 421 4 bbl, 3.23 rear end. It had one original color Mission beige repaint 3 years ago along with the correct burgundy double pinstripe applied. The bumpers have been re-chromed and the rest of the original bright work is in great shape. I purchased and installed an NOS tail panel which looks beautiful. The trunk, which had no rust has been freshened up and looks like new. The original interior is practically flawless and includes a perfect dash pad, superb dashboard with a new tach cup, beautiful console with 421 emblem, new mats, a beautiful original uncracked black steering wheel(however I do possess a correct super nice wooden wheel as well) and more. The car has power steering, but no power brakes(rebuilt master), recored radiator, AM radio with original antenna body/antenna, front end rebuilt, and much more.

To discuss the car further, call me, Peter, at 1-917-693-2716.

Gentlemen, This car just sits covered in my mom's garage. I would love for someone on this site to obtain and appreciate this fine machine.
I will consider any serious offers before I reluctantly advertise the car elsewhere.

Speaking from personal experience (unfortunately an expensive lesson), you can't restore a '65 2+2 to the condition of Peter's car for less than he's asking. The tail panel alone is worth multiple thousands of $$$. Manual shift cars are becoming especially harder to find.
Don't miss out on this if you're in the market.

Default '65 Cat 2 + 2

I've resurrected this thread and the sale of my car.

In the past year, I've had the original engine rebuilt and upgraded with many high quality and high performance parts (Rather than list all of the engine improvements here, I'd prefer to discuss them on the phone or in person). I correctly detailed the engine compartment(pics included), added a new correct tri power induction system, high perf water pump, mini high perf starter, seven blade clutch fan, Ram Air Restorations long branch manifolds and complete new dual exhaust system, re-cored radiator, pertronix ignition, new 3.42 posi rear and many other things that I can't recall at the moment. Interior wise, I re-installed the original wooden steering wheel. I saved many of the original parts that would be included in the sale of the car.

I'm now asking a reasonable $35,000 for the car. If you're interested in discussing the car in greater detail, call Peter at 917-693-2716 or 718-253-2118

You can e mail me at pjcanitano@aol.com.

*I also have an excellent set of correct 8 lug drums that would be included in the sale.

Wish I had the extra $$$ or I could find someone who wanted my GTO! 65 is my favorite year; I wish I had never sold my 2+2 years ago.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

This truly is a great, solid car that needs to be owned by someone who will really appreciate it and actually use it. I barely put on 1K miles in 7 years! I believe my asking price is very fair.

Anyone looking for a nice manual shift 2+2 should take a good look at this car. The beautiful paint in rare Mission Beige gives the car a unique look - I don't think I've seen another out there.
I follow the 2+2 market very closely. Values are all over the place. It is difficult to determine an average price with so few sales during the course of a year. The people at a loan broker like J.J. Best plug 1965 Catalina into their software and come up with a figure which has no relationship to the cost to duplicate any particular car. I know from experience that you can't put a '65 2+2 in the condition of Peter's car for anywhere near $35K.

This is a reasonable asking price on a great car. Note to potential buyer: From personal experience, there is no way you could build this car today for $35K. Note to seller: Mount the 8-lugs and consign the car at a Mecum auction with a reserve price of $50K. https://www.mecum.com/auctions.cfm Good luck!

FYI

Reserve was 35K. Loads of interest in the $28-30K range.

I know this car well. It is EASILY worth $35K. With the extras Peter is including, you can't duplicate the car for that kind of money.
I'm tempted to sell my '65 and buy his, pocket the difference.
