looks like a nice car, lots of correct looking details. Looks like a little age on the restoration and with the automatic and non-original engine it will be tough to get near that $55k price.

I agree, 55k is too high for a non matching 72 HO. it does look nice and the color combo really stands out. 40k-45k?

I like it...not much there for the sharks....
Is 50K an unreasonable price?.....I don't think so....for a "turn key car....

The seller is not that specific about what exact # block is in the car,but if it's a correct 72 coded HO block.......considering the quality of the rest of the vehicle (that I can see)
I believe it's a fair price..... The #'s match HO's in that condition seem to be priced at 75-90 K...from what I've seen recently.......whether they are selling or not is a different story....JMO

I tend to agree with 2many. It's the old supply and demand thing. I've noticed over the last few months a lot of "wanted 70,71 and 72 T/A" postings on this forum with zero responses most of the time.

I would think its a 55K car with that color combo. 72 Blue rare rare rare, ivory more rare and desirable. If its a 4 speed matching its reaching 75K?
Whats the highest paid for a 72TA? Steves White one?

blue vs. white war
$55k is a lot of $ to a working man..too bad there are not more photos, especially underneath...so if it was white, $55k would be out of the ?..IMO it will not sell, but I hope it does..it will give an accurate value of the cars right now

Didn't you say this? "actually I don't belong on this forum because any proper T/A should be $75k.."
Just saying...Can't have it both ways.

This car is doing real well on Ebay for NOM.

auction ended with a lot of bids but it stalled at $46,100. If it's like a lot of nice cars on eBay, that will be the high watermark for any future eBay re-runs. This time of year I'd try and get it in one of the Arizona auctions with a reserve and see if it could get in a bidding war, that Lucerne Blue with honeycombs in person might give it a better chance.

that's pretty impressive though...and non original motor...and of course there were some mistakes going on...one of the a/c brackets looked wrong, causing the dip stick tube to float in mid air....makes me re evaluate what I have sitting in my garage...assuming I do not sell my car for 20 to 30 years I wonder what type of person the car will have significance to?

I'd be suspect at a NOM car bringing this much. Funny how bidding stopped this close to the buy it now.. I bet the very next $100 bid bought that car. I'm suspicious of an auction that comes so close to buy it now yet doesn't reach reserve. too easy to have a couple friends bid it up to right under the reserve hoping to catch some unsuspecting buyer. like I said, bet the very next bid would have bought that car, and 10 to 1 it would not come from the bidders who got it up that high.. don't think I would use this as a gauge of where the value of your car is currently, and 75-90k is dreaming on an HO..
disclaimer just my opinion, no offense meant to anyone, pls do not take my comments personally.not sure how anyone could take my post personally, but h$ll, stranger things have happened on this forum.. |

very valid point...I am clueless as to this ebay bidding..I certainly would not buy a car for that kind of cash without seeing it

In my observation, probably 95% of auctions similar to these:......nice car,LOTS of bids....reserve not met...are ALL phoney....shill bids by the owners friends.....bid to just below the reserve...hoping that somebody will get "sucked in" to thinking there is multiple people interested in the auction car and place the next bid to crack the reserve...
Same deal going on with that 70 Ram Air 3 Formula 400 we discussed recently.... It was relisted 2 days ago and there are already WAY too many bids on it...

and here I am thinking,I wonder why the guy did not sell..thats a lot of $...and I wasn't trying to be negative in the beginning saying it would not sell...guess we need to watch a realistic auction...it does make sense this e bay auctions can be rigged...is nothing sacred?
