Thinking about painting my 69 Lemans front grill black. It was painted black by prior owner but with gray edges, and frankly it was a crappy job. The car is being painted Windward blue with parchment interior and white convertible top.
Would like to see examples of those who have painted their Lemans grills all black and what paint was used.

Here are some comparatives:
The factory ET prototype looks like they just blacked out the entire grill, the red car has the factory early production silver grills and the brown one has the late production dark grills. Of the three I prefer the factory darker grills, I like how only the horizontal lines show, giving it a very modern look. I find the all black of the ET looks cheap and home made. Maybe all black with just silver outlines would be a nice look?

Neither of them can be reasonably repainted by hand in my humble opinion. Maybe that’s why the boys at GM just rattle canned the ET grille all black.

I ended up painting mine like the later style darker grills. It took some effort getting there but they look really good. Rustoleum satin black and for the chrome I used Revell chrome spray paint.
