Default Is this a trick?

I am trying to remove the "Push" button from the windshield wiper switch from a 1975 F.B. I cant get it removed and I dont see a set screw. Is there a trick to getting it off with out breaking anything? Thanks.

Has it got a notch where it slides on the stem that you can stick a piece of wire in?
Notch like taking wire terminals out of plastic connectors.

Lot of push on knobs have a metal tang that holds them on. Sticking the wire in raises the metal tang.

I looked very carefully and there is no tang to depress like on some wire terminals. I guess I can try pliers but I hate to brake it?

Does seem like the lever has serrated edges to hold the knob on. Not meant to be a servicable item. Or at least wouldn't go off and on more than a time or two when the plastic was new and softer,

Whatcha got going on with this one that you need it off?

To remove mine (76 TA) I had to remove the dash bezel to get behind the small square base that the wiper switch goes though.

Oops sorry, just looked. That was for the defroster switch.

Default The rest of the story.......

The original 1970 Wiper switch is frozen, meaning, the on-off lever would not move at all. I easily removed the "Wash" button as I want to transfer it to another wiper switch that I have that works great. The other (Newer) wiper switch has a button that says "Push" which is not correct for my 1970 T/A. If I can remove the "Push" button from the newer unit, I want to replace it with my original "Wash" button. Now you know the rest of the story!

Sounds like you're not worried about the button you just don't want to damage the switch trying to pull the button off..?? Don't know if that's a question or a statement.

If the 'push' button isn't a keeper...I'd squeeze it with pliars or vice-grips till it gave up and let go.

You are correct in that the "Push" button is not a keeper. I will crush it with pliers as I only need the switch. Thanks again.

Default Got it

I was able to grab the "stem" of the switch lever with a long nose pliers and then grab the "push" button with regulars pliers and I got it removed. I then put my 1970 "Wash" button on that switch lever and I am good to go. Thanks again all.
