I think they have the wrong year for it. I do remember seeing photos of the real car but I believe that the year was much later than 53. Early 60s if that sounds right. Maybe 1963?

1953 is the correct year for what later was called the Firebird I prototype a quick google search resulted in this Page, it is Wiki so take everything with some skepticism

Back in '95, I flew my dad to Detroit so we could attend the show at the Gilmore Museum in Hickory Corners. Besides going the the show, we went to the Henry Ford Museum.

I can't remember which of the earlyFirebird concept cars were there that day - at least 2 different ones. The "Hallmark" version might have been one of them.

Firebird I

Firebird II

Firebird III

It’s a pretty cool little ornament, and will look nice on one of my shelves with other Pontiac and Firebird memorabilia.

Pretty neat article in the Oct. 17, 2016 issue, and Auto World. I just love anything that I can learn the history of the cars I love the best.

The cars were built in the 1950's at GM Research. They were in the lobby of the Research Building in the 1970's. My dad started at GMR in 1961 and when we would pick him up from work, growing up we only had 1 car for a long time, I remember staring at those cars while waiting for my dad. They got them running several years ago for a show, I think at Meadow brook. They are in GM's collection at the Heritage Center in Sterling Hts Michigan.

1953, the year of the Studebaker whose roofline, I swear, was copied for the F-Body:

I was perplexed as to what you were referring to, but then the light came on and I realized that you were referring to the Banshee....

As previously posted, I've seen 2 of the 3 Firebird concept cars from the 50's.

The Banshee - I was lucky enough to have my GTO staged kitty korner from it under the feature car exhibit tent at the Iola Old Car Show celebrating Pontiac's 75th anniversary in 2001.

I've also seen both of the 1954 Pontiac Bonneville Specials:

The green Bonneville Special was on display at the POCI national meet in Red Wing, MN back in 2001. It was pretty cool to see it in person.

Another car I'd like to see sometime is the lakester that was built by Eddie Miller Jr. for dry lakes and salt flats racing. It had an extensively modified Pontiac flathead 6 engine.
