I was told that a Ford 460 rear main seal will work in a 400 Pontiac. Is this true ? Has anybody tried it ?

Go to http://www.bopengineering.com They make a seal specifically for the pontiac 3" and 3.25" rear main. You can get all the installation details there. You could of course order it from our sponsor Performance Years. I put one of these seals in my 67 400 this spring and it hasn't leaked yet.

I just installed a BOP seal in a RA III 400 that I am rebuilding for a friend. At the machine shop that did his machine work told him that a 460 Ford rear main seal would fit and work in a Pontiac 3" crank engine. I was just checking with the Pontiac people to see if any body has done this.
