I had a great conversation with a very knowledgeable tech at Spec clutches today and I laid out my expectations and he was very knowledgeable and informative. I chose their clutch because they really stand behind them. He told me if I didn’t like it for any reason I could return it. Can’t beat that kind of faith in their product. He actually said I could do the stage 1 and be fine but I want the safety margin of the stage 2

That is because we are old now Tom I remember when swapping out a clutch was no big deal. But after watching Dave swap one out in the White Warrior at a race part of why I'd never race one again!

Skip,I just got done swapping engines in the bird.Pulling the TKO without a trans jack was a huge PITA and even more putting it back in on the lift!Im still old school and run B&B pressure plates,McLeod does not make them anymore. If I had to buy a new pressure plate today it would be a Hays 2400lb B&B which is what im running from McLeod.I dont race any more so I find they will hold the 500ish HP I usually run with no issue. Some of my friend gave me so much crap when they saw the flywheel and pressure plate that came out of the bird as you can still see the machining pattern on both.I guess im not only old school im OLD!As you know I put a lot of miles on the cars.Tom

I have a 70s vintage B&B purple Zoom PP I was using in the Camaro before it got the IA and TH400 I can send you I ran B&B in my Impala also and they would bend the clutch rods until I reinforced them.
Ever try one of the centrifugal assist Long styles?

I have a spare McLeod right now, thanks.Have not tried anything else.I need to find out how heavy it is before I use it.2400 lbs pressure plates dont give me any issues. The one in the tempest is a 2800 and has been in the car for 20 years.Tom

It seemed reasonable on pedal pressure.

[QUOTE
Ever try one of the centrifugal assist Long styles?[/QUOTE] We used to run one of the Hays Long style 12 post "slider" clutches back in the day on my street TA with a sintered iron disc, was 2800lb with a kevlar disc, lasted 2 runs, dropped to 1800 lb with the sintered iron and lasted forever, pedal feel was like a Honda lol. Had adjustable static via access plate in scattersheild adjustable lever weights (3x Long style levers) and the lever height / angle could be adjusted as well. Think they still sell them.
