closest ive seen is the Barry Lutz chevelle dash that glasstek makes. I was going to make one out of the cheap plastic pad cover and some 1/4" tubing as a frame and kind've fill in the blanks on my racecar

That’s a nice idea... How are these repro covers holding up? Are they sturdy enough? One might half fill the backside with urethane foam or something ..?

I used a Ames performance plastic dash cover on my 69 GTO 10yrs ago. Still holding up great! I didn’t put it over the factory dash I just used the dash cover and some aluminum angle to attach it. I believe it was lighter than a fiberglass dash.
