It doesn’t get much better than that combo! Beautiful!

A similar pair was frequently seen in my High School parking lot. The Cameo White T/A was driven by the mother of a hot red-head Flag Girl who got to drive her mother’s car in her Junior and Senior year, and there was a Petty Blue Plymouth Superbird that was driven by the son of a local FM DJ - who happened to be dating the red head in the white T/A. In his senior year, the son of the local FM DJ showed up in a Plymouth Super Bird with his dad’s radio station call letters down the side. At that time, the car was painted in that Petty Blue, but later showed up in a gaudy Red, White and Blue paint scheme.

Got a yearbook photo of those cars somewhere.

Here is a link to the story of Rome Benedict, the local DJ and his Plymouth Super Bird. Quite a legend in Chattanooga during my time in High School. http://www.wwnboa.org/romeo.htm

I took my wife out for her first cruise of the year yesterday and it occurred to me that I have not taken a picture of “Lucy” in years, so I figured I should snap a few as it was a nice day. They were actually predicting snow this weekend, but it just missed us.

Anyway funny thing happened today my wife was saying her neck was a little sore. I said to her “from what you never did anything”. She replied “from you hammering on the throttle when I wasn’t ready, I think I got whiplash”. I said “thanks that just made my day, and next time I’ll remember to give you a heads up babe.” LOL

Hey there Keith, it’s good to hear from you, and thanks for the complements everybody!

Yes Lucy is restored, I completed the resto 22 years ago. I can’t believe I’ve owned her for 33 years now. I’m not all that old! LOL

Some history on it. It’s a 70 ½ that was ordered new from a dealership in Montreal Quebec. That owner moved out to Western Canada and sold it to the guy I got it from, so I believe I’m the third owner. A blue 70 4-speed was my dream car since I was about 12 years old and I was extremely lucky to stumble upon it just a few blocks from my house. I was a teenager (17) and this was the first car I ever purchased, that was in 1987. In fact the car wasn’t even for sale.

I drove the car a little bit until I could save the money to properly restore it. I pretty much did everything myself so it took a while (rebuilt literally everything), body and exterior paint were done by a shop. So in 1998 the complete restoration was finished and I’ve been enjoying it since.

It’s all stock (RAIII) right down to the points ignition, and the car came equipped quite nicely (IMO). Factory options include, M-21 4 speed, heavy duty radiator, 3.73 Safe-T-Track, AM/FM, rear Speaker, wheel trim rings, décor mouldings which include the stainless steel along the top of the doors, fenders, and base of the hood, door edge guards, roof drip mouldings, tilt steering, console, and custom black interior which comes with a bunch of stuff. I have PHS and GM of Canada docs.

A few things I find interesting:

1- What a great car! Lucy has never let me down, not once. Its never come home on a hook, and it’s never been a trailer queen either. I’ve driven it through 4 provinces, 2 states, carved up the mountain roads in the Canadian Rockies, and even taken it on a 10 day vacation with my wife. The first actual repair I’ve been required to do was a leaky wheel cylinder last year. How is that for Pontiac quality?

2- One time coming back from a car show (9 hours away) on a scorching hot day, there were lots of show cars on the side of the highway with overheating issues. Lucy blew by all of them. My digital thermometer said it was 130 degrees F in the interior of my car. My wife and I almost overheated, but the car didn’t.

3- I think the car has only ever been wet once when I got caught in a rain shower. I use Dry Wash N’ Guard etc to clean it and never once washed it with soap and water in 22 years.

Sorry to ramble guys I know this is a picture thread. I’ve been away from this sight for a long time and I have a lot of pictures to catch up on in this thread alone, so I will finish up.

This was my dream car since I was a kid and. I can honestly say that if I didn’t own one, it would still be my dream car today. Sometimes I have to open the garage door and peak inside just to make sure it’s really mine. Sure I’d love a Swiss Cheese Catalina too, but let’s be realistic. LOL

I need motivation to get my car back together so I was browsing this thread. It's been two years since any action shots have been posted. So I dug up a few of my old ones.

Traction is everything! The blue one is faster than my red one by 1/2 second with me driving both the same day.

Last time I ran the car at Sebring, it's been over 10 years! Damn time flies! Dawn. pits, & on track.

Funny. My son named my 72 Formula "Lucy." Nice car you have there.
