Need a convertible measurement
I am exploring the idea of mounting the battery in the trunk; I can get a 1.5% weight bias shift by doing so.
Of course it will need to be on the passenger side, but since I am using a full size spare so it will not fit next to the quarter panel The area immediately forward of the spare may work - but since I do not have the top installed I need to know how much room is under the well to the pan. |

I just looked at mine and the well covers the whole shelf, all the way to the vertical sheet metal that goes from the lower trunk pan to the beginning of the shelf.

How much weight shift do you get by lowering the top?

As noted by AG the well hits all the way down, so that is a no-go.
Another option may be to mount the battery UNDER the spare and relocate the jack bar like a Firebird does under the fill panel forward of the trunk opening. If that is not feasible I may say the hell with it and run a Lithium battery up front as they are 1/3 the weight of a conventional lead-acid unit. |
