Default 70 GTO Engine Wiring Harness

I am working on my 70 GTO getting to the engine harness. My question is
what is the difference between the RA harness and the standard harness?
I assumed the difference was the way the wires to the starter is run.
I am going to use the RA exhaust manifolds on the engine. The new one
I have has a different plug for the water temp gage.

The big difference is the starter wiring routing. What plug do you have for the temperature gauge vs. what you should have?

The only plug left there is one with three wires,a rectangular plug. Original was a single wire that pushed on the
stud on the sender. Sender is the original same thing that it looks like they sell now also.

The idiot light cluster cars used a 3 prong port for the TCS in 1971 and 1972. I think 1970 was the same but I am not sure. If you have gauges there is a separate wiring harness that plugs into that 3 prong connector and splits off to the gauge sender.

That may be what I do not have. This car has been apart way too long for me to remember accurately. I know I do not have the other unit anymore.

If not, it was reproduced at one time. I just found one in my stash that I bought years ago and haven't installed on the car yet (the best of intentions on finishing a car I bought over 7 years ago...).

I did a lot of modifications to my engine harness. I purchased the correct terminals that went in the plug at the fire wall and just changed them with a new wire so I had no splices. I then rewrapped all the harnesses and it looks very good and the connections are also good as there are no splices in the wires. Just do one at a time and it really is pretty easy. If not fully installed just make the wire a foot or so to long and cut to fit and terminate with installing.

You need the extension harness.

I have one on order now. This thing has been apart since the late eighties
or early ninties so I have forgotten a lot of what i did back then.
Thank you for the information!
