I just did a Google search on the address on the PHS, and 250 Surrey Lane in Clarkston MI is definitely not a car dealership, it looks semi-rural from the aerial shot. I then Googled Richard A Hansen, and got a hit on a guy with that name in Clarkston MI who was born in 1943, which would have made him 30 years old in 1973. He would be 77 years old now, so maybe your original owner is still living.

When I googled the address it gave me a realtor.com listing of the place.
2 br 1 bath built in 1972. The house would have been 1 year old when he bought the TA.
I think it was probably a suburb of Pontiac (or Detroit even).
Town population around 1100 people.

I remember looking at a rough 73 SD in the western NC area, back around 1983 - 1985. I don't remember the town, but the guy had a bunch of rough muscle cars back then, including a 1970 T/A 4-spd?

I can't remember if the 73 SD I looked at was white or red. I remember taking a bunch of photos to show a body man when I was thinking about buying it. If we're talking about the same car, I may have some photos of it.

Baron, I think you knew about the 70 and the 73 T/A in western NC. Do you have any additional details?

Mike

And there's probably a million Richard Hansons, so searching on his name won't get you far either.

Yes
The 73 SD was White with burgundy color deluxe interior.
Auto, AC, Hood Bird, Honeycombs , and probably a few other things.
That's the one that none of us could get brave enough to buy it.
I think you were the first refusal on it.
Then slowly the word circulated about it afterwards.
It was incredibly surface rusted to the point of preforations plus some rust through in the common areas.
I really liked the overall combo and wanted to talk myself into it - but just couldn't.
Already that pitiful in the 1986-88 time zone was just a crying shame.

This red car is borderline pristine compared to that guys 70 and 73.

70 was White 4speed Ram3 and equally disintegrating exterior.
Both were complete and #s matching.
It was either 5000 or 5500 for the SD
About 3000 on the 70
They were worth their sum in parts with no room to spare, but both really needed to be re-bodied and restored.

Mark P. also had pictures of the pair.

Yes, Clarkston is just up the road from Pontiac, MI. A nice area where it's not uncommon to find senior GM folk living.

Very unusual to see a private name and address on an invoice like that, and as others have noted, it's usually connected with a higher ranking GM management person or retiree.

Congrats to the OP - very cool car!

Wow! What an awesome find. Was it in the Athens area? I love that there are so many of these neat finds coming out of their garages. I think there are still many to be found.

Baron,

Mark P was the one who took me to see the cars. I had just gotten a nice camera and was taking pictures of everything I looked at back then. I think I took the pictures and gave Mark a set to keep and show around. I thought that car was white, may be with a red nose, but it was many many cars ago.

Mike

The owner lives in Bogart, GA. The cars were at a friend's property in Athens, GA.

Here are a few more photos. I believe the battery cables and upper radiator hose are original to the car. Does this look like an original radiator cap?

Both Battery Cables and Upper Radiator Hose all confirm to this 73 SD Buildsheet.
Rad Cap looks appropriate to me.
100% = idunno anymore

CB - Pos Cable
BB - Neg Cable
LU - Upper Hose
NT - Lower Hose

CS - Master Cylinder

How much wear on the Brake and Gas Pedals ?

I would say that the wear on the pedals is minimal. Engine appears to be fairly clean under the valve covers.

Wonder what on earth made someone park a 45,xxx mile 73 SD TA outside and leave it out there for 36 years.

Maybe it was under shelter for a while, then lost storage and put it out in the pine needles on your friends property.

Was probably still a very nice car in 1984
Perhaps the transmission went bad or the engine needed a doctor.
At least you finally got it now

Shet happens, then we come along and absorb the balance.
But this is WILD
