Cool build sheet and I've never seen foot note for decals not to be installed? No hood decal either on the order. Sleeper Buc Red SD?
Great find and good luck with the build. Oh and happy belated b-day to her too.

If you order the PHS ask Jim to check if there is more then one. My Zone car has two and I had to ask after the fact to get the second one.

FYI.

The build sheet belongs to the SD Trans Am that Larry Leist ordered and delivered in primer.

I think BVZ included it to verify the equipment codes for the subject car.

Agree; the build sheet was for reference and not affiliated with the recent purchase by 74SDformula

Thoughts on this alternator. I believe it should have a 80 amp alternator. As you can see this one is marked 100 amp. Have been unable to find the usage of this alternator number 1105500. Date code is 3F28. Could it be original to the car or is it more likely that it has been changed in the past?

Quick search reveals it to be an alternator found on military blazers

Maybe the alternator was used as testing while in engineering. Does look to be stamped 55, as in 55 amp.

With defog and A/C the 80 amp alt would be required. Logic says it's wrong but never say never. Seems odd that the 100 amp alt build date would make sense for the build date of the car. That would be a hell of a coincidence that a replacement would be that date. If the mileage is accurate, it most likely wouldn't even have needed a replacement in the first place. Tough call!

Delco 1105500

THIS IS AN OEM TYPE ISOLATED GROUND 1105500 GM ALTERNATOR FOR M1008, M1009, M1028, CUCV MILITARY OR CIVILIAN USE TRUCKS, THESE APPLICATIONS USE 2 OF THESE UNITS ON THE ENGINE.

Quote:
In the early ’80s, General Motors started building 1-1/4-ton light utility vehicles for the U.S. Military, and the name Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicles (CUCVs), or Kuck Vees, came into use. Modifying an existing vehicle saved the military money on its new trucks, since the CUCVs were created out of parts from GM’s light commercial truck lines.

M1008 was based on the K2500 series Pickup Truck
M1009 was based on K5 Blazer/Jmmy with 3/4 ton upgrade
M1028 was a shelter carrier (the shelter being a mobile command, communications or intelligence operations enclosure)

It ran a dual voltage system - 12v and 24v
Could jump-start any NATO vehicle.

Wild application.
2x 100amp Alternators on a vehicle would definitely rob some power.
Most of those vehicles were 6.2-liter Detroit Diesel V-8 engines.

Looks like the date code would have to be for 1983 , not 1973
So it was someones upgrade in the 1983-84 time period i would best guess, since tags expired in 84 or thereabouts.

One more really oddball detail about the Pink Buildsheet 73 SD T/A
Notice that it lists a Rear Seat Console - but NO Front Seat Console
YEP,
it is a COLUMN SHIFT Automatic SD455 Trans Am !
Black Primer / Red Attachments

Wow. What a great car! It kinda reminds me of my days hunting car parts in GA when I was stationed at HAAF in Savannah 1990-1994. One of the local car guys had a red 1970 TA for sale for $5K. Times sure have changed.

An LS2 engine in a Pontiac that doesn’t rub me wrong.

1101015 is the correct stamped part number for the 80 amp alternator used on the above '74 model Pontiac. There are close to a dozen stamped part numbers on this style (27 SI) Delco alternator, some are oddball, like the above "5500" application. Am much more attuned to running acroos the Cadillac & Olds application 27SI's.. The Pontiac application "1015" number alternator quit being used, I believe, during the '75 model, when the 80 amp "1016" replaced it.

Began pulling select Delco 10DN, 10SI, & 27SI alt cores in the late 80's. Also loaded up on Pontiac 80 amp specific mounting pieces as found early on, how hard to find some of those pieces were. Nice core 80 amp alt stock is currently down to half a dozen "1015" & '1016" alts, with current "1015"s dated in a range for early '73 through mid March '73 model applications.

Fantastic save on the '74 SD!

Roger, its a 73
06B body date
Sounds like you have a suitable replacement alternator for it in the date range.

I might have made note of the alternator date code on my former 73 SD.
Think it was 06B build too .... but just 55 amp A/C application.
I doubt the alternator pre-dated as much as the mechanical castings did.

Duhhh, not sure why my mind skipped to the SD being a '74.

Fairly sure the latest date '73 1015 alt I have is dated in Feb of '73, & too early for an SD build. Shipped out a restored May of '73 dated 1015 alt along with brackets late last Fall, all destined for a 73 SD restoration. Will ck dates & report back.

...all I currently have in stock as nice '73 application 1015 alt cores.

Date spans on alternators are typically fairly tight from assembly to installation on original Norwood builds. Wide date spans were typically only seen as a result of dated component parts setting in the plant due to the assembly plant being shut down for a UAW strike. Late Jan & early Feb of '71 time span, as well as early '73 model production (Oct '72) is where one will see Norwood builds with large date spans on rather common component parts. Example, the mid Feb built "1015" alt on my 3/31/72 built '72 T/A could have easily not made it on to a '72 Firebird build & could have set in a bin & then ended up on one of the first '73's off the delayed '73 Norwood assembly line in late Sept or early Oct of '72.
