That is Rod down in Glide. OR. He's a retired GM dealership parts man. He bought stuff for years while he worked there and now he is slowly selling stuff off. He probably paid $20 each for the bezels when they were new, if that much. Lol. Good guy.

I'm not one to judge. I know he has stored the parts as carefully as possible for decades at his own expense. Having the foresight (?) to invest in something that might never pay off is a risk he decided to take. What you see for sale isn't even the tip of the iceberg. He's got a barn full of NOS parts. Last I checked he wanted $3,750 for an NOS endura nose for 1970-1972 Firebird. Good money if he gets it.

Some of those buyers of those NOS parts are good people too. Bought some of those parts for those RA IV cars they got....

Not sure what you are saying..... NOS stock box parts are not the caliber of installed on built car parts? That makes no sense to me. I have not seen that but I have not seen dozens either, ones I have are nice. I think you took my tongue in cheek too literally. I was poking fun at the mindset that seeks perfection. And back to your point, of course one can chrome something better than the factory. We see it all the time.

Surprisingly, he does sell some stuff. And at those prices he probably doesn't need to turn over much inventory to be happy.

He has printed lists that he will snail mail out (he doesn't like e-mail). He breaks the parts down into application so if you call and say you have a 1970 Firebird then you can get the list of parts for Firebird. It covers 1970-1981 so you still have to be aware of what is what for your specific year.

He seems to bump the prices higher for eBay, probably to cover any fees. But he isn't bashful about asking what he wants. I have found some killer deals by going through his parts list and picking things that are priced more in my range. He does have a few things that are normally unobtanium, too.

I think Roger is just saying NOS parts aren't typically perfect. I know I bought an NOS rear bumper for 1970-1972 (still had the paper tag on the backside) and then took it to my favorite chrome shop and had it show chrome plated (that's all these guys do). The factory chrome, while not terrible, was not up to par for the rest of the car.

They have been in business for 92 years now.

I've taken a tour of their shop, too, and this is their filter system in the back. Gotta keep the EPA happy.

Back in the day....the 70's......ALOT of the parts (body and trim) that were available through the dealer parts dept were ACTUALLY assembly line rejects...

I would sometimes order 5 times to get one part I was happy with...SO...as Chad says...just because they are NOS....DOESN'T mean they are perfect..

The tail light's in question are OBVIOUSLY round port ones....which as everybody knows....cost MORE than D-port ones...

Those are actually the D-port ones. The round port ones are even more, but don't come with the studs. Don't ask how much...

You know as well as anyone that I'm a sucker for a good NOS part now and then. Lol.

Like Eric, I still have the tail lights in the yellow and black
Delco boxes that you'll recall with some hysteria. But, at least I didn't pay what those bezels are asking. The great part about the taillights in a box is they have the studs and 1/4" hex screws and gaskets. Between the two, there's like 28 parts that don't need restored.

Here they are now. 917145 and 917146. I guess also good for 1972?? 1973?? Whoever wrote on them only noted 1970-1971.
