Default Conventional transmission

Has anybody tried to mate a conventional automatic transmission to the back of the 1963 326? I realized there are issues with the crank flange, but has anybody installed a flexplate to that flange to accommodate the installation of maybe a TH350 or powerglide?

Might be a issue with the input of the converter to the crank. No issue with the flexplate. You will need a adapter for the bell mounted starter for sure just like any other 63 block.Tom

If you use the 1/4" thick starter adapter plate that butlers used to stock it will also space the auto back 1/4" witch works out well as the 63 326 crank is longer by that amount. The late flex plate will need a spacer ring (I think 2.6"to 2.76")but as tom says the bolt patten is the same. Put the tubo 350 converter in a lath and machine to 1.38" to suit the early crank recess and it will all go together.

Thanks Tom and Gavin. You have pointed me in the right direction. Here is the link to the Butler page that has all that stuff to make it work. For anybody else that is contemplating this. http://butlerperformance.com/c-12347...-adaptors.html
Anybody else have any helpful tips?
