[QUOTE=stags;5862142]I have a DRE on my 68 Firebird with all stock suspension, frame, motor mounts. Fits great. Not cheap but no problems with headers, starter, etc

Vincent Mayada (vin63) did a custom one for us from DJ Safety. Gave him all the measurements and it was great. It was around $250 ish iirc.

yes, vin will have deist/DJ make them. custom made or dimensioned to any pan. I have one on the firebird, it is imho, way nicer than the DRE i have on the GTO. I do not like the buckels they use though. they are alot larger than the DRE style. I will probably have another one made for the gto this year.
I have seen Troy's fitment on his dre and it looked fantastic though.
send vin a PM he reponds pretty quickly

Pics would be great. I street drive quite a bit, do they tend to bump up temps?

I have an DRE but the important part is they have repaired my Engines diaper 3 time at no charge. Don’t know what other companies do.

Unfortunately this is as good as it gets until I change oil when it warms up. It’s like a fire resistant material like the old suits the fuelers wore, I believe. By the time you pay all the money to put the heat resistant material on the nylon based Dre you may as well get something that doesn’t mind getting wet. The headers on this car huh the block very tight. No melting in 3 years. It is a little thick but if you think about why it is on your car that probably is a good thing.
My dre is older and been on both cars but it’s a mess. Melted, heat guard stuff shredded etc. that’s why I wanted to try something else. The Dj probably holds more engine heat in if I had to guess but non issue for me. Motor hasn’t been out since it went in 3 years ago. I will dig into it this winter

Can you explain how this one attaches?
Thanks

I only used 5 of the 6 straps. These are plenty beefy and secure. The u shaped hook that attaches to the diaper is about .5” thick. At least on my car, I would have rather had the straps sewn to diaper like the dre in fact I will order the next one with that change for the Gto
