I was going to give him your cell number Steve but that phone fell through an Ice Fishing hole on Caldron Falls last year. Dam phones!

Hey guys, I could use some help deciphering a starter core I just bought from a really nice member here. Anyway, the starter is thought to have been from someone who bought a SD replacement block. The starter has a correct solenoid on it for SD and HO applications (1114348) but that starter itself has a part number I haven't been able to cross reference with any of my resources. Anyone have any idea what the original application would be for 1108500? I'm hoping one of you guys with the early books can dig something up. My April '83 edition only has the reman part numbers in it.

A quick look in an old Hollander manual shows that to be for non SD '73 455's & 400 4bbl. engines.
I'll dig deeper later.

Thanks Rick! I appreciate you checking. That solenoid on there really gets me wondering.

Default 74SD Formula

I would take Two. Very Nice Car.

Does have wrong color interior that is the 75 blue. No RTS badge.

His floor mats match worse than mine, I am going to Black floor mats!

NOS Fender, painted right over body clips.

Vacuum lines removed

Am I the only guy running the shaker drain tube rubber line?

What color should front header filler be black or body color?

Forgive Me!

In ref to your question: Front header panel under grill, above bumper should be body color.

Here is what my book is telling me:

Starter #
1108500 for 73-74 400 & 455 , solenoid # 1114356
1108495 for 73-74 455 SD , solenoid # 1114378
1108436 for 71-72 455 HO , solenoid # 1114348

Thank you, SDD! That does help a lot! Any theories on how that solenoid got on my 500? Maybe it was an over the counter upgrade?

Attached are the pages for 70-74 starters and all the Part #'s
As you can see, some of the internal parts change the like the Coil Field #8, Armature #10, Switch #17 and Stud lever #22 for the starter #'s I listed previously.
I" 95 % sure the HO and SD starters were "Hi-Torque", but not sure about all the applications listed. The exploded diagram shows the copper buss bar of the Hi-Torque,
but that may change with the different Coil field #'s. Just my assumption, perhaps others can add to this.

My guess is someone changed your solenoid because that's what they had that looked similar and would bolt up correctly.

I put these up as high res files so they could be printed and still be read.

Thank you very much!

I actually think this may be a SD starter too! In the section 1 Starter Motors it lists the 1108500 part number AS CORRECT for a '74 SD. Well, I wish it were a '73, but that aint bad. Please have a look and let me know if my eyes are playing tricks. And thanks again!

I've had a lot of PMs on the 73 I mentioned so I thought best to just put a short description here. Once I get the car and look it over myself I'll put it in the for sale area. Super Duty D, your first in line and I'll get with you before I do anything.

I bought the 73 in 2001 with 32k on it. I think it has 38 or 39k on it now. Sold new in MN, then to CO and then Washington state. WA owner had it 10 or 12 years and I bought it from him. It had a poor (probably old enamel) repaint. There were some rust spots behind the rear wheels but small enough to patch easily. It was solid underneath but rough looking. All I did was put in carpet, rebuild the radio, redid the front suspension and drove the heck out of it for a while. At one point I took it to Rocky R to tune and go through the distributor. That's when we found, the hard, expensive way, that the loop holding the oil pump shaft was broken. Upon trying to restart the shaft moved, got caught and locked up the motor. I then went through it completely. HPP April 08 article (I think the article has the dyno results). I had the trans gone through at the same time since it was right there handy. Shortly after I sold the car to the current owner in FL. He had a shop do the cosmetics. Paint, body, underside, etc. Not a concourse nut bolt job but everything clean, smooth and repainted. A very nice driver quality job. He now wants to move on and asked me to sell the car. The car is being shipped here and I want to really look it over and get pics before I get serious with the sale. I always felt the mileage was actual but the title showed exempt. It was a great driving car. #s all matched with the exception of a service sd carb. I have an extra 270 I may offer when it sells. Glove compartment paperwork and phs. Options are black deluxe, console, am/fm, 8 track, windows, locks, hood bird, honeycombs on it but no build sheet to prove. Non A/C car. New TAs when I sold it. I'm pretty sure I had new exhaust put on when I had it. Aluminized pipes, stock configuration. When it gets here I'll get more info, pics and move to proper forum area.
