Default Value of 69 RA IV in todays market??

I need some help. I am looking at a 69 RA IV GTO. I know prices are down so I really don't think this car is worth what he wants. It's what I call a good driver car. Has fresh paint, new interior. He said it had a frame off 6 years ago, but doesn't look like its ever been off the frame to me. Has a SR block. Number matching rear and trans, 4 speed 3:90. Car is "ok" but, just edgy all around. I think the car has been on evil bay, that may be where he got it. He said it went through Mecum and the other owner didn't sell it. I'm thinking 40,000.
Opinions greatly appreciated

Opinions without pix? Condition, color, interior and other parts are everything when putting a value on a car.

If it has correct carb, intake, exhaust, heads, all ram air stuff, etc. Matching M21 with 3:90 is a sweet combo. It will be worth more than 40k...

Not sure what edgy can mean? Hard to hide a frame off restoration that recent?

Those are rare still and not sure if it's that chocolate one that's been thru eBay mecum.

I agree with weranc55. I think 40,000 would be all the money for a driver.

I will try to get some pics. He only sent a few and they were pretty bad. By edgy I mean you could just tell that there were a lot of things that just made you a little uneasy. Doors didn't line up good, bumper didn't line up, gaps off. It just looked like it was thrown together for a quick sale. Another thing, when he cranked it up it idled dead smooth, didn't sound like a RA IV. My RA III with a 744 cam hits more of a lick than this car.

Even if this car has some uncomfortable items to deal with such as uneven doors, bad gaps, etc. the fact that it still has its original trans and rearend and nearly original engine still makes it valuable. Even today it should bring 45K+. Hasn't been all that long ago that these cars were north of 60.
