I think the guy was told L79 and he assumed that meant HO. My Bonneville is also a YH and clearly says L79, not the optional 370 horse L75. I think the Tire Pressure refers to which decal gets placed on the car. The H78 tire was standard, with the L78 as optional and I guess got a different decal, or maybe that specified a B body decal as opposed to an A body or F body decal.

That's an interesting build sheet.

Is the writing on it from the factory?

Yes, everything on the sheet was as I found it under my rear seat in 1979 shortly after I bought it. I've always wondered why the whole bottom is hand written rather than typed, and don't know what all the other numbers and number/letter combinations mean. Any ideas?

There was an optional tire pressure pump that hooked to the engine on the passenger side. Maybe that was the tire press option?

No, the V/OP Tire Pump (V64) on the build sheet is called the Instant Aire option in the Service Manual and the Options Brochure. My car has it, and you can see it on my build sheet in the farthest right column. I have only ever seen one other, and that was in a magazine recently, but never on the street or at a show. I also have the Tire Pressure (%*KZ) which I think distinguishes the decal that goes on the B body, rather than an A of F body for tire pressure and size information.

Default wish I could ......

I also have the Instant Aire option on my '69 Bonneville convertible. As David says it is a rare option .......and almost impossible to find with all the parts these days. His picture does not show the engine bracket, the plastic vacuum resevoir, or the "Y" shaped vacuum port that mounts into the intake manifold. I only know of 2-3 or three others with this option as well. It was not a factory only option, you could buy the kit, as shown in the picture of the box, at a dealership as well and install it yourself.

When I bought my car in 1979, all the brackets and Y fitting were there, as Blubomber noted, but I was missing the pump with the hose. I was at Daytona Speedway a few years back and asked a guy selling some Pontiac parts if he had any Instant Aire parts. He was surprised, because he didn't know anyone even knew what that was and said actually he had 2 complete NOS assemblies at home and would sell one. I met him at his home and bought it to make mine operational. Fortunately I saved my original bracket for A/C, because the kit only had the bracket for non A/C cars. I attached the sheets that show how it is configures and how it stores in the trunk.

If you open the PDF and click View, Rotate Clockwise, it's easier to read.

That's what I thought, it having all the writing.
Of course a lot of the later sheets had TAZ written on them.
(initials of the guy checking it?)

I thought the writings may be a way of checking the options on the car, writing down the things missing or being on there?

A lot of the writing is the code numbers, like power windows, AC, the air lift setup, etc.
Some of the letters I don't know what they mean, though.

What's different with mine build sheet, is the WHOLE bottom is hand written, even the dealer name and address. I don't remember seeing others that weren't typed. We are talking pre-computer days, and maybe some assembly plants weren't set up to type? I don't know. Or maybe the typewriter or addressing machine or what ever they used was broken that day.

"why the engine would need a rebuild with such low mileage?"

Since it is 42 years old. Age affects cars too, not just miles.
